Jeremy Gugenheim has been involved in manual writing for nearly thirty years. For the last eight annual editions, book layout has been carried out for a large accounting firm in London. The book, a 4500 page flagship publication, is prepared by multiple authors in Word which has proved unreliable in a number of areas but is the application used by the client. Since each new annual edition is created from the previous edition the text cannot be exported out of Word. A large amount of automation has been written but with the proviso that all automation results must not be invisible - an error could silently damage the book faster than anyone could do it manually.
